Kajukenbo is a practical martial art that combines the best techniques and training of five traditional martial arts systems.
It was crated between 1947 and 1949 at the Palama Settlement on Oahu, Hawaii.
The name KAJUKENBO was created by combining the first few letters of each style: Ka (Karate), Ju (Judo & Jujitsu), Ken (Kenpo), Bo (Chinese & Western Boxing).
Kajukenbo is a concept based system! Although there are several methods/curricula & offshoots i.e.; Ordonez Ohana Method, Emperado Method or Gascon Karazenpo Go Shinjutsu, each instructor interprets the system in there own way.
You will learn self-defense techniques, sets (forms), grab & ground escapes, weapons, and multiple attacker defenses.
Kajukenbo uses what works and discards the rest. This is why Kajukenbo can offer such diverse material to people with differing abilities.
Great Grand Master Jason Groff
Congrats Prof. Steve. You are the epitome of a Kajukenbo Professor. A man skilled and have instructed the base and related systems of Kajukenbo for over 50+ years. You have trained with and been affiliated with some of the most prominent early practitioners of Hawaiian/Chinese Kempo, Kung fu, and the various related arts that make up the basis for the concept of Kajukenbo. That knowledge and experience you have is beyond a measurable value and without peer. I salute you, Sir, for lifelong dedication and the inspiration you bring. You are one of the few of the Brave.
