Kenpo is a powerful and effective method of self-defense. Kenpo was created by the Ancient Samurai Warriors of Japan by blending Shaolin Chuan Fa (Kung Fu) with the Yoshida Samurai Clan's Jiu Jitsu. Utilizing punching, striking, kicking, throwing, and joint-locking to deal with any and all self-defense situation.
It is the only self-defense art taught today that is designed to protect the individual by any and all means necessary. Kenpo, by its powerful philosophy and devastating hand techniques, enables the individual to use enough force necessary to dissuade, disable, injure, or neutralize the assailant.
It was brought to Hawaii in the 1930's by Great Grand Master James Mitose and modernized for the street by Professor William Chow & perpetuated by Great Grand Master Al Tracy
Grand Master Shover offers 2 major styles of Kenpo:
The Tracy Brothers, as much as possible, have kept the techniques of Kenpo exactly as they
were taught to them and demand that they be executed with power & foucus. Tracy's also
organized Kenpo, by naming each of the techniques and ordering them into course
requirements for each rank. This was unheard of in the 1960's when rank was often
awarded for athletic ability.
Practical and effective are the words most often used to describe the Tracy's style of Kenpo.
Self-defense is the main objective of the art, and any & all measures are used to assure the
outcome of any assault.
